Sensorial and Immersive Avant-Garde
Immerse yourself in the transformative universe of Lygia Pape with Weaving Space, the first major French exhibition dedicated to this Brazilian avant-garde pioneer, where installations, prints, and experimental films invite physical and perceptual interaction that redefines the boundaries between art and everyday life.
At the Bourse de Commerce, discover the emblematic installation Ttéia 1, C with its copper threads stretched in darkness, animated by light and the movements of visitors, alongside rhythmic book-objects such as Book Night and Day III and projections that capture the socio-political tensions of Brazil in the 1960s-1970s.
This immersion, infused with neo-concretism and humanistic commitment, celebrates an artist who, alongside Lygia Clark and Hélio Oiticica, transforms space into a living and participatory language.
Dates and Duration
From September 10, 2025 to January 26, 2026, this exhibition spans nearly five months, coinciding with the Brazil-France Season for an extended reflection on South American avant-garde movements.
Open Tuesday through Sunday, it includes performances such as the reactivation of Divisor in September for immersive collective experiences.
This generous duration allows for multiple visits, enriching the perception of interactive works across the seasons.
Opening Hours
Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last entry at 6:30 p.m., closed Mondays and January 1, May 1, December 25), with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays for enhanced nocturnal exploration.
Self-guided visits typically last approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, encouraging autonomous sensory exploration.
These flexible hours adapt to urban rhythms while prolonging the immersive experience within the softly lit atmosphere.

The complete address is: Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection, 2 rue de Viarmes, 75001 Paris.

Online reservation recommended for time slots, with multilingual audio guides and accessibility accommodations (ramps, spacious areas) ensuring full inclusion.
This affordable pricing democratizes Pape's interactive art, making the sensory experience accessible to a diverse audience, including families.
Artistic Context
Born in 1927 in Nova Friburgo and trained in Rio de Janeiro, Lygia Pape (1927-2004) emerged in the 1950s with abstract prints influenced by constructivism, before joining the Brazilian neo-concrete movement by participating in exhibitions such as the 1957 Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio.
Engaged against military dictatorship (1964-1985), she created participatory works such as Divisor (1968), where perforated fabrics anonymously unite bodies to erase social hierarchies, and experimental films that manipulate imagery to question identity and power.
Produced by the Pinault Collection as a prelude to a minimalist exhibition, this retrospective—featuring loans from the Lygia Pape Foundation—affirms her legacy as a multidisciplinary artist who, through spatial weaving, merges the sensorial and the political for collective and poetic transformation.
