Sensory and Ecological Odyssey
Immerse yourself in Ocean, a digital exhibition that recreates the vastness of the sea across 4,000 m² of projections, where blue whales, great white sharks, glowing jellyfish, and schools of fish move in life-size, accompanied by an enchanting underwater soundtrack.
At Bassins des Lumières, discover nearly a hundred marine species on a journey from mysterious abysses to colorful coral reefs, passing through icy polar ice, highlighting the fragile beauty of the oceans through 800 synchronized video sequences.
Complemented by Treasures of the Deep Sea, created in collaboration with Greenpeace to raise awareness about ocean preservation, and Entropy in Le Cube, this poetic experience reminds us of the vulnerability of marine ecosystems and the urgency of protecting them.
Dates and Duration
From 18 October 2025 to 31 December 2025, this exhibition runs for two and a half months, extending the oceanic immersion through the holiday season for a magical winter discovery.
Open daily, with extended hours in November and December for family holidays.
This balanced duration allows for multiple visits, capturing the nuances of the projections under seasonal lighting.
Opening Hours
Open every day from 10am to 8pm (last entry one hour before closing, until 7pm on Sundays and certain public holidays), with early closures on 24-25 December.
The visit lasts approximately 1 to 1 hour 15 minutes, allowing for a free-flowing stroll at the rhythm of marine currents.
These generous hours adapt to family and tourist schedules, transforming the submarine base into an accessible aquatic portal throughout the day.
Address and Access
The full address is: Bassins des Lumières, Impasse Brown de Colstoun, 33300 Bordeaux.
Located in the Bassins à Flot district, the entrance is accessible by tram (line C, Bassins à Flot station) or bus (lines 7 and 9).
This historic site, a former World War II bunker converted into a digital art center, enhances the underwater immersion, merging industrial architecture with aquatic visions.
Prices and Accessibility
Admission is €16 for adults (€9 reduced rate for children aged 6-12, students, and seniors); free for children under 6.
A single ticket grants access to all three exhibitions (Ocean, Treasures of the Deep Sea, and Entropy), with online booking recommended to avoid queues.
This family-friendly pricing, with wheelchair access and a mobile app, makes the experience inclusive for everyone, including young visitors and those with reduced mobility.
Artistic Context
Produced by Culturespaces Studio, with artistic direction by Virginie Martin and production by Cutback, Ocean draws inspiration from marine biodiversity for a visual odyssey that blends wonder and ecological commitment, in partnership with Greenpeace for Treasures of the Deep Sea, which highlights the protection of ecosystems.
Entropy, a contemporary creation in Le Cube, extends this reflection through digital abstractions on oceanic chaos and harmony, evoking the 10 million species still unknown in the seas.
Part of the innovative programming at Bassins des Lumières—pioneers of immersive experiences since 2016—this experience transforms the submarine base into a poetic tribute to the oceans, connecting contemporary technology and environmental urgency to raise awareness about the fragility of a vital world.
